ESTEE LAUDER LAUNCHES MAKE-UP FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED USING AI AND AR

Last week, L’Oreal announced the launch of its motorised make-up applicator, designed to help people with limited mobility. Now, Estée Lauder has unveiled a new app that uses artificial intelligence technology to help people with visual impairments to apply their make-up more easily.

The voice-enabled make-up assistant (VMA) is a first-of-its-kind, AI-powered app – currently only available through Apple and via esteelauder.co.uk in the UK – that promises to help support the visually impaired community.

NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP LAUNCHES SPRING 2023 COLLECTION ON ROBLOX

NYX Professional Makeup launched its spring 2023 collection on Roblox today. The collection can be interacted with in “House of NYX Professional Makeup,” which is located in iHeartLand on the platform. Users will have the opportunity to collect limited-edition makeup for their in-game avatars while exploring the house, which features a peacock DJ.

SAMSUNG IS INVESTING MORE THAN $35 MILLION IN METAVERSE INITIATIVE

Samsung, the Korean electronics behemoth, has revealed it is currently investing more than $35 million dollars in metaverse initiatives for the Latam audience. The objective behind this move is to help the brand attract and connect with younger audiences, as part of its digital push and growth marketing strategy.

PUMA ENTERS THE METAVERSE

Sports company PUMA has unveiled its first ever metaverse website experience, called Black Station, which features exclusive NFTs with limited edition redeemable physical sneakers, as part of its ‘FUTROGRADE’ show during New York Fashion Week.

PUMA Black Station has been imagined as an immersive and interactive place to experience the future of the brand. As a blank and ever-evolving 3D canvas, Black Station will become a dynamic destination to visit, connecting consumers with various web3 activations emerging over the course of the next year and beyond.

TIMEX GOES APE

Timex, the watch of the metaverse, enters web3 with a first-ever collection of ultra-rare one-of-one timepieces and corresponding digital twin NFTs, exclusively available to members of the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape community.

Developed in partnership with long-term ape holders, each stunning, custom created digital collectible and hand assembled watch is based on the iconic Timex Waterbury Classic design to showcase the Ape or Mutant on full display.

FROM STRIKE TO STROKE, FOOTBALL AND ART COMBINE FOR THE WORLD CUP

The man and machine collab features the work of 32 emerging and established artists, each tasked with creating a piece representing their country and using their respective team’s jersey colours from the World Cup. After each match, the AI-powered algorithm combines the artists’ creations with match statistics to generate unique pieces that represent each game. The collection will be a unique set of pieces presented as NFTs. ‘From Strike to Stroke’ includes artists who have never created NFTs and NFT artists who had not worked within traditional fine art.

WELCOME TO LOOTOPIA…HOME TO CIRCULAR FASHION IN WEB3

On January 4 2023, H&M launched Loooptopia, an immersive “circular” gaming experience on Roblox. In the game, players collect coins to open loot boxes filled with fabrics in different colors, materials and textures. They can then slot the fabrics into a machine to create over 1,000 different in-game digital garments. It marks H&M’s latest digital fashion launch focused on sustainability.

MOONPAY AND TIME JOIN FORCES TO CREATE SEAMLESS PURCHASING IN WEB3

MoonPay, a Miami-based leading platform of fiat on-ramp solutions for the crypto industry, announced that it will be working with TIME, to provide its customers with a seamless way to purchase TIMEPieces’ NFT collections using credit cards.

Launched in March 2021, TIMEPieces is the Web3 community initiative from TIME that has grown to over 150 artists and over 60,000 collectors and community members. The community dropped the first-ever fully readable magazine on the blockchain. All holders can connect their digital wallets to TIME.com for frictionless access to the website.


WEB3 GLOSSARY

“APE”

Ape in web3 is a person who puts a lot of money in cryptocurrencies or NFTs without any research of that particular asset. This act of heavy investment when happens as a result of hype or panic buying is also referred to as Ape.
