NIKE LAUNCHES .SWOOSH

.SWOOSH is a hub for Nike’s virtual creations, where you can collect your favourite Nike digital products. Nike want it to evolve over time into a home for their entire community to buy, trade and co-create virtual products. Nike will gamify the experience to select winners of challenges, who will get royalties on the products they co-create with Nike.

DECENTRALAND MUSIC FESTIVAL ROUNDUP

Decentraland’s Metaverse Music Festival from 10-13 November saw performances from Soulja Boy, Dillon Francis, CryptoPunk Rapper Spottie WiFi, and, of course, Ozzy himself on the Ozzfest stage. The Festival is not just about celebrating the artists and curators, but letting them redefine IP ownership while using artificial intelligence and Web3 to transform the music industry as we know it today. With NFTs, artists no longer have to rely on middlemen in order to engage with their fans and get paid.

KELLOG'S ‘POPS’ INTO BLOCKCHAIN GAMING

Kellogg’s has partnered with Mythical Games to create a set of NFT characters based on Pop Tarts for Blankos Block Party – a multiplayer blockchain game styled like a giant block party, with in-game NFTs that represent avatar designs and accessories that can be bought and sold on its marketplace. This is Pop Tarts first UK brand campaign in over two decades.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY'S FIRST EVER AVATAR

As Charlotte’s avatar comes to life, she will bring her presence, expertise, and guidance directly to customers wherever they are in the world. By scanning or swiping, Charlotte will appear through mobile devices, manifesting in AR and inviting guests into a virtual beauty wonderland. From there, Charlotte will take you on a virtual journey, guiding you through multiple realities, via shoppable 3D product, livestreamed masterclasses and the ‘Shop with Friends’ functionality - taking you deeper into the Charlotte Tilbury metaverse.

ADIDAS LAUNCH VIRTUAL GEAR­

The renowned German sports footwear and apparel brand, Adidas Originals, has announced the launch of Virtual Gear, a new category of interoperable products from the brand involving the first collection of 16 NFT wearables. Designed for new realities, the Genesis collection showcases an evolution of Adidas house codes reimagines for the Metaverse. Virtual Gear was revealed after a teaser campaign with the Adidas Discord community and was made available in the wallets of current Phase 2 Capsule NFT owners. Not only that, the new collection can be worn by virtual avatars and is interoperable with other identity-based designs and worlds.

AR STRIVES AHEAD WITH NEW NIANTIC HEADSET

“We believe true AR will be best experienced on AR headsets made for the outdoors. For our part, we plan to make Lightship VPS available to power location-based AR experiences on as many hardware devices as possible. Two of the Group’s leading brands, Maybelline New York and L’Oréal Professionnel premier exclusive makeup and hair styles for avatar creation on Ready Player Me that can be used on more than 4,000 platforms and apps worldwide. The partnership strengthens commitment to promote authenticity, inclusivity, and creativity for self-expression through avatars in the metaverse.


WEB3 GLOSSARY

“HOT WALLET / COLD WALLET”

Crypto wallets allow you to send, receive, and spend cryptocurrencies and store your private keys, keeping your crypto safe and accessible. The main difference between hot wallets and cold wallets is that hot wallets are connected to the internet through your computer or phone, so are much easier to use for regular transactions, while cold wallets are hardware devices that can keep your data offline, so they’re less vulnerable to online hacks or theft than a hot wallet. Hot wallets are usually free, whereas cold wallets require the purchase of an external device (around $50-250).
