Back in Feb, deep in Covid, Facebooks Becky Owen invited our founder to chat to Facebooks Creator Shop colleagues  about  #virtualhumans (VH) and how they can be utilised by brands, along with digital model designer Cameron-James Wilson of Diigitals. Since then Zuckerberg announced Facebook was transitioning to a ' #Metaverse ' company and the interest in Virtual Humans / #virtualinfluencer has exploded.

The presentation started with an explanation about why humans trust robots more than humans - its related to not being judged - followed by the history of Virtual Humans and characters and how they will develop over the next 4 - 5 years. This covered territories where they are part of every day life - Japan, China - and the various ‘verses’ that characters currently live in, in the West, and importantly, how these Verses will start to become ‘interoperable’ and will provide utility for all - not just gamers.

Facebook has invested billions in the Hardware that Virtual Humans, Avatars and Virtual brand representatives will live in, with its investment in its AR glasses business with Luxotica, thisi s the hardware and the software, there is a huge job however to be done with creative industries to understand how to harness this - this is the world of creatives like Facebooks creator shop, The Diigitals and Virtual Influencer Agency.
